Ahoy hoy good Motor Sounds folks, hows April been to you so far, good I hope. Here at Motor sounds Towers we're all just peachy. Its been fairly quiet around these parts but things are hotting up nicely.

ROCK N ROLL MONKEY AND THE ROBOTS GET MARRIED
No thats not the name of some lost dodgy 80's movie, I'm delighted to let you all know that Craig and Jackie from Detroits Rock n Roll Monkey and the Robots are getting married in July this year and as if that wasn't exciting enough they're going to honeymoon in Ireland, so we're all gonna make the most of the opportunity and play a gig at Beatnik Soul in Derry City. Andy and Chris from The Bonnevilles are going to become honorary Monkeys for 1 night only and provide the backline for Craig and Jackie in what is sure to become a legendary event. The date will be Saturday the 18th of July in a venue to be confirmed.

Rock n Roll Monkey don't gig much in the U.S. these days and not at all anywhere else, so make sure you get down for this one as its is quite literally a one night stand.

I'd like to congratulate those crazy kids on their pending nuptuals and I'm sure they'll live happily ever after in years of wedded bliss. Oh and both of their albums "Detroit Trauma" and "Back To Beatsville" are for sale at our online store, sorry was that crass of me, ah well I'll get over it, check em out, you won't regret it.

THE BONNEVILLES and REVEREND BEATMAN
While we're on it, The Bonnevilles are also going to be The Reverend Beatmans band at a festival in Glasgow on the 20th of June. Our good friend Rasef who runs the Eruption club nights in Glasgow has put together a 2 day festival of Garage, Rock n Roll and Punk Blues types on the 20th and 21st of June with Beatman being the headliner and The Bonnevilles in support, both as Beatmans band and with their own set. So I urge you to try and make that, it should be fantastic.

Looks like The Bonnevilles have a whole lot of learning of new tunes to be getting on with, but I'm sure they can cut it.

I've decided to move things along into the 20th century......what year is it? I'll be posting video blogs on YouTube from now on out along with these mailouts and what have you. Apparently a picture paints a thousand words so I'll be painting some for you and giving you a little insight into Motor Sounds Records lifestyle and all that. It should be fun, so keep an eye out for me at gigs with a video camera, I'll be chatting to all the good folks who make Motor Sounds possible and introducing them to you, so stay tuned...literally. Rock N Roll Monkey and the Robots - Back to Beatsville
(Rock N' Roll Monkey Records / Motor Sounds Records)

Rock N' Roll Monkey and the Robots obviously dig kitschy 60's sci-fi stuff and retro mechanical toys. But what they also like is to make shakin' cool psycho-pop in the vein of B-52's with lots of twang and surf feel. Inspirations may also be the Cramps take on psycho-whatever with their b-movie twist. All songs are damned catchy and makes your feet twist. I would like to say that this band could be the new saviours of alternative pop. This is great stuff - weird - but groovy.

Hi all, welcome to the newly redsigned site, redesigned by yours truely. i've been trying out a couple of different looks recently and this is the one that sticks. So for any regular visitors we haven't had a fit of some description. Oh and I should mention the font I've used is Century Gothic, so make sure you have that on your browser to see the site as sexy as it should be.

I may as well let you all know we're currently without distribution as our distro deal with CODE7 has come to an end and in these troubled times we're to small to worry about, I think we got lost in the shuffle. Never mind, onwards and upwards and all that shit. From now we'll concentrate on our online efforts and try and hook up with a few more quality online stores ourselves until we get a distribution deal sorted.

THE DAGGER LEES SPLIT !!!!

It's with sadness and a genuine feeling of what could've been that I type this blog. My good friends THE DAGGER LEES from Dublin town have split. All bands with any decency should split but not before they get to record their opus and this has turned out to be what's happened.

(Fuck it I'm calling them by the name I knew them by before a lawyer made them change it, STAGGER LEE god damn it)

Late last year I heard they were to record the debut album at Detroit Recorders with Jim Diamond, I've been a fan of Jim's for years now, one of my favorite albums of all time was recorded there "The Von Bondies - Lack of Communication" (thats also funny for another reason but I won't go there). But when I heard the Lees had been paired with Mr. Diamond I saw a great rock n roll album, the hard part had been done the tours & gigs, writing and more writing, trouble & strife, heart-ache & joy then pair it with the right guy to make the album and bam your home and dry......or so I thought.

Stagger Lee have been one of the best bands in Ireland for a couple of years now, (the only only possible argument to that could only be personal taste and you'd have been wrong), and by Grums twisted bones they deserved to make that fucking album.

Lets go through it, they got the choons brothers and sisters by fuck have they got the choons, they got Donna and Benni let's face it two good looking women or I'm a fucking Cornish pastie. Donna wailing with Rock n Soul Gospel vibrations and looking so damn pretty the paradox makes you wonder what happened to her that she can sing like that because like all the best its all born of pain baby. Benni, beautiful and the coolest looking person I ever saw on a stage in my life and the coolness comes over in her playing, she looks like she'd show Sinatra a thing or two. Grum, the writhing beautiful dirty bastard guitar daemon, inspired and inspring. Justin looking like a fucking cartoon of himself and drumming like he was melting. It makes me sad.

Ah well, Let it be known brother and sisters I've had a couple of drinks and Stagger Lee will-o-the-wisp'd their way into my misty brain and I was compelled to type this little tribute. Stagger Lee, genuine heavyweight contenders I shall have my memories and my regret.

The current situation in the Gaza strip

I don't wish to become politicised or to get all political on your ass, I also am mindful of Bill Hicks' "Love all the People" ideas, which I agree with but in the past couple of days I have seen half a dozen photos of dead babies/children in the news papers, their little chubby fingers closed and sticking through rubble, or one particularly horrific photo in which a father on his knees over the bodies of three dead children pleads with the sky, what he pleads for I don't know but I'm sure you can imagine. In another image the bodies of a dozen or so dead policemen are laying were they fell, all inside 10 yards of one another, twisted, broken and un-natural. Whilst on the front page of a British dailys' supplement, one poor bastard reaches to the camera man for help, he's not looking at the lens he's looking right at the cameraman, his fingers burnt and bruised, I know he's fucked.

The invasion of Gaza by Israel is a disgrace and one which we should all be ashamed that our governments have encouraged or ignored the hellish situation that has been allowed to fester there over the years. It's no mistake that Israel has done this on the eve of the handing over of the US presidency to a less sympathetic administration. Israel complains of extremist Islam meanwhile it seems to be doing all it can to create extremisim, you simply cannot bomb and murder your way to any sort of resolution, Israel know this, so therefore they must have an alternative agenda.

Hamas on the otherhand have been firing missle across the border into Israel on a daily basis for years now, what the hell did they think was going to happen? Did they really think that Israel, an agresive state, backed by the most right wing U.S. government in history was going to let that continue unabated, it could be argued that if Israel, the U.S. and Europe recognised the legitimacy of Hamas when it was elected then perhaps they may have had other options. But thats all too late now.

The result is dead children, dead fathers, brothers, wives and sisters. Grief and grieving. Little chubby fingers poking up through the rubble and blood staining the dust and mortar from where you know the head is going be. There can be no winners here type Gaza into Google images and tell me its worth it.

BOOKING BANDS - ETIQUETTE, RULES AND STANDARDS

Hi Kids, Andy here, all's well here at Motor Sounds Towers, we've had to turn the heating of...again, but never mind we can burn all the shit demos we get, those bad boys burnt like the fires of hell, much hotter than the good demos, go figure. Emo music on the other hand we've had to stop burning altogether, its like a fucking nuclear explosion. This one time we burnt a Funeral for a Friend album and we had to evacuate the building, the old people we use for wheelchair skittles in the foyer survived intact, more by accident than design, but now we can't use them for skittles anymore as the rubber tyres melted and stuck them to the floor so they couldn't wheel themselves out the door to safety and I'll be fucked if I was going back in there, it was real hot man, don't look at me like that. On the upside we've now got some brilliant corporate art, so if any Japanese business men have a spare million or two they need to be getting rid of, we can talk. We accept cheques.

BOOKING BANDS
I digress, the purpose of this blog, is to make a few things clear to some folks who want to book a band, obviously I'm concerned only with the bands whose music we release here at Motor Sounds Records, but you can apply this to any band who you think is good enough to book.

The music 'bidniz' is full of charlatans and sharks, if you don't want to be seen as one of their number heed my words of wisdom. they come from being involved in music since before I was born, I'm like a fucking modern, drunken Confucius.

PAYMENT
First of all, I know for a fact that a certain band on Motor Sounds Records have been getting a lot of booking requests lately from people who seem to be surprised that the band expect to be paid. This to me is an insult. Let me walk you through it point by point.

1...These bands have paid their dues to the Gods of Rock n Roll, now they just need to pay the rent.

2... The bands have their own expenses, Jesus the price of fuel alone would make a dead man weap.

3...If your club night/venue can't generate a couple of hundred quid to pay the band, you perhaps need to reconsider its viability.

4...We appreciate you may be trying to get something off the ground, but we're trying to feed our families and pay the rent, just like you.

5...You shouldn't expect bands to drive, sometimes, hundreds of miles, so you and your mates can have a giggle and play pretend at being promoters, its an insult.

6...All the bands on Motor Sounds are good enough to be paid for what they do.

7...I for one, and I know most of the bands that I speak of, have no other careers, we don't have an education or degrees to fall back on, when you were training to be a Surveyor/Accountant/Banker we where playing gigs, mostly for free and learning our trades.

8...We're not talking about thousands of pounds here. Get in touch if your curious about how much to pay/charge

9...But what about 'Giving the music back to the kids' or 'Just do it for the music maaaaaaannnnnnn' . All bands do play for free, its called rehearsal. (rehearsal rooms aren't free either)

OTHER THINGS
As well as payment, there are a few other things that need to be taken care of for the bands.

1...DIGS. If the band is traveling a long distance, accommodation is expected to be provided. A floor to lie on is more often
than not adequate, hostels are also acceptable and hotels are fucking great. But whatever you can provide do try and make it comfy.

2...FOOD should be provided, musicians aren't skinny thin because they want to be, its because promoters don't feed them, and yes it is standard practise for the promoter to feed the band.

3...BACKSTAGE. Although its not always practical, a place for the band to be alone is always appreciated, a backstage area, usually a broom cupboard to allow the band to gather their thoughts.

4...MERCHANDISE An area for merchandise to be displayed and sold, preferably near the entrance. Not all bands have merchandise to sell but those that do really rely on it boost their income. Let face it, if your not paying the fuckers the least you can do is help them make burger money.

5...SECURITY. YOU, THE BOOKER, need to think about the security of bands equipment. Me?, Yes you. The band don't know the area, they're in a van with thousand of pounds of often vintage and irreplaceable gear. They could park the van in the local pikey familys' back yard and not know a damn thing about it till its to late. Most bands will be really fussy about never letting their guitars etc. out their sight, indulge them.

6...BEER, you the booker/venue need to provide the band with beer. Most bands will enjoy a few drinks through out the course of the evening. If you give the band a couple of hundred quid to play your room its not fair if they spend it over the bar. Failing that, most well prepared bands travel with emergency supplies in the event of meeting a mean promoter. Do not tell a band off for bringing their own beer if you don't provide it.

7...PARTYING Musicians, more than anybody understand the desire to "party hardy dude", but if a bands touring through your town and your gig is the 12th night straight the band have played, I can assure of one thing, they will be completely fucked and may want to just get their heads down after the show, please allow them to do this. On the other hand they may want to inject drain-o into a cat, I 'll leave that one up to you. Trust me, touring is an exhausting business, and if your to survive it at all you need to pace yourself.

8...PROMOTION, this is more for your the bookers benefit. Please try and promote your event properly, if you don't know how to, then ask someone who does, trust me here, they will give you tips and contacts. Just ask. Bands with a professional attitude will play to two men and a dog, they won't enjoy it but they will do it but If you don't cover your expenses then the chances are you will be put off promoting events and we need more decent folks like you, who pay bands, in this game.

Tips*** ask the band for promo copies of their album/single to give to local press along with the usual press gumpf, all decent outfits will have a press pack readily available, you just have to ask.

***Don't be afraid to tell your friends to fuck off when they expect to get be put on the guest list. In my experience the best events have a very, very small guest list, coincidence?. Some promoters don't even let the bands girlfriends in on the guest list, its always the amateur affairs that have half the audience on the guestlist.

TO CONCLUDE
Thats most of it, if I think of anymore I'll add it, but as you can see most of this stuff is not difficult to do or organise but it is stuff that needs done and you would be amazed at how many cats just don't bother.

By the way, I know this stuff all cuts both ways, the bands have a contract to fulfill as well.
*Don't be late
*Don't be drunk
*Sound check is just that, a "sound check" not a fucking rehearsal if you can't be done in 15/20 minutes you've no business being on a stage.
*Be pleasant, these folks are putting their own money on you. Too cool for school wanna be rock stars are the most hateful wankers on Gods green earth.
*Bring all your own gear, drummers with no sticks and guitarists' minus leads do not inspire confidence.
*Be professional and work with the sound man, he's there to make you sound good, be clear and concise.

RUSTY SPRINGFIELD
Its early days but theres another Rusty Springfield album in the can and will be with us in due course, I haven't heard this one yet but the early reports are all good baby. But just to add a little flavour to the stew, it was recorded using Joe Meeks old gear, if you don't know who Joe Meek is, then get googling you spanner.

Using the simplest of gear, a Tascam 688 8 track recording studio you can achieve the nastiest cheapest sounding recordings you ever heard. For examples just listen to The Bonnevilles tracks on my audio player or buy the new Bonnevilles album (due out July '08), I think you should do that yeah thats the best idea.

IF YOU CAN DO IT LIVE, YOU CAN DO IT WITH US

Employing the idea that putting a microphone in front of your amp/kit/mouth and pressing record is enough and processing after the big red button has been pressed is for wastrels, usually Metallers with more money than sense (I've never heard a drum kit sound like that). I know this may sound completely insane to some but thats how people used to record and I like it.

The Audio-Industrial complex is the third most powerful entity on planet earth after the Amish and Lidl, they sell us stuff we don't need, we've been led to believe that our artistry can be improved by buying "stuff", and have convinced some that their music is lacking because you didn't buy the latest digital nerval grunge pump or whatever. Well here at Super-8-Ekotonic we (I) say pish and poop to that, the most important stage in the recording process is the very first one, the one were you write the song, if thats no good then no amount of processing and polishing can save you. Bearing this in mind we (I) can always blame you for writing a shit song when you eventually try and blame us (me) for fucking up your album.

EQUIPMENT LIST

******The most important thing is the Tascam 688, its a cassette based portastudio and by portastudio I mean two burly bricklayers can lift it. This thing was made back in the 80's and was and still is considered the best cassette portastudio ever made.

******A load of mics, Sm58s' and 57s', an old Technics condenser and a couple of cheap condensers' . I'd love to buy a load of old classic mics but can't so I use the best I can afford, which are shit. But I find that the Shures' are a general cure all, if they were good enough for Chess records and Willie Dixon they're good enough for me.

******For mastering I use an Apple Mac running Cubase and T-racks

Here at Super-8-Ekotronic we (I) can give you a Trashy, lo-fi, dirty recording, but broadcast quality (but who the fuck would broadcast you, right?) I'm not going to give you something you can't use, if your the right sort of band for us we're (I'm) right for you. But please bear in mind the limitations of the technology, Re: point 8 above. Also, I can come to you, the joys of the portastudio and two burly brickies.

a review of Hardtale Lurgan Blues ep (SOLD OUT) was reviewed in issue 42 of Blues Matters magazine, a huge Blues music
publication in the UK and apparently they really liked the it a lot, I have no way of verifying this as I haven't seen the mag yet, but I'm
assured by one of our moles in England who kindly sent me this text message yesterday.

If and when I see the mag I shall share the review with you. I also must take this opportunity to congratulate the texter (on my phone he's

LABOUR MOVEMENT HANDS OVER UK TAXES TO INTERNATIONAL BANKERS

Labour Government Bails out Bank?

No I haven't made a grammatical error, that question mark is there for a good reason.

For our non UK friends, back in September last year the UK government halted the first run on a UK bank, the Northern Rock, in over 100 years by guaranteeing savers and investors money with UK citizens taxes.

For me there are many things wrong with this. The biggest problem I have with this debacle is a supposedly socialist government propped up a bank, the most anti-socialist institution imaginable a bank, was under-written by the British Labour movement. Now I'm not being naive here, I know its been a long day since they have even pretended to be socialist, but there ya go, I'm old fashioned that way. But and its a very big but, and I don't think its naive to assume this same bank has foreclosed loans and repossessed peoples homes because they couldn't back up promises they had made, now these same peoples taxes are being used to prop up the same bloody bank that took their homes. A bitter pill.

This same bank found itself in this unenviable position had invested heavily in sub-prime mortgages, these are high risk mortgages lending money to people that cannot by definition afford to pay back the loan. For those of you that don't know these people are referred to (by investment bankers) as NINJAS, no income no job no assets, completely charmless I'm sure you would agree.

I find the whole situation disgusting and cynical, Gordon Brown our prime minister, who no-one voted for (at least in the USA you get to pretend to have an election, our guy doesn't even bother) was considering an election (and here we are exporting democracy to the middle east) when the situation with the Northern Rock happened, this immediately gave the opposition Tories ammunition to try and build a momentum running into the election, if it was going to happen. The UK treasury guaranteed the savers money, we never got an election and the Tories never got to use the biggest bomb in the box, thank God , they're fucking idiots as well.

And so to the news today, the Northern Rock has been nationalised so the UK taxpayer can hopefully get its money back, £80 billion and counting, thats more than our health service costs us. But what does all this mean, well I can draw a few messages from it.

1 Our political leaders are cowards and more concerned about power than civil service.
2 Our banking system (I say our but mean theirs) is fatally flawed and is terminally greedy. Privatise the profits and publicise the losses.
3 The working classes are going to bear the brunt of this, we always do.

I live in Northern Ireland and we've seen the price of houses soar and I mean soar over the past 5 years an example of which would be, 5 years ago I could've bought my house for £30'000 or less, this time last year the same house would cost me £150'000. You may think the first figure was to low, but i don't, you see we don't get paid as much as our brothers and sisters in London and Dublin and all our utility's are much more expensive, also no-one I know wages multiplied by a factor of 5, but we've seen our house prices rise and pass a major capital like London, Northern Irelands pretty but its not that fucking pretty. We have no economy, no infrastructure and no hope of paying the mortgages the banks have literally been shoveling out. This time last year we had 36'000 empty houses in this little state-let but anywhere you cared to look houses were being thrown up and selling off-plan, it was a frenzy and quite frankly it frightened me. Any idiot could see it was unsustainable and so it has proved to be. Our little economy has ground to a halt and is going to get much much worse. House prices have started to down turn. Someone I know is already in negative equity and I reckon I'm going to know a lot more before long.

Our Government cannot be trusted to run an our economy and our bankers are too greedy for anyones good.

Cut up your credit cards, buy the things you need with the money in your pocket. By borrowing money from banks you give them power to fuck you over. Government wants its citizens in debt, you become controllable when your in hock to your neck. I don't like the idea of any one, let alone a bank or fucking government, having any power or control over me.

I'm Andy from Motor Sounds Records, you might know me from other classic Motor Sounds Records mail outs such as "Motor Sounds Records mail out 10" or who can forget "Motor Sounds Records mail out 9" and I wanna tell you about what's going on here at Motor Sounds Towers.

First of all, the wonderful Rusty Springfield album - "Please don't dance whilst holding drinks" is now due to be released in March, the delays were due to extreme incompetence on my part and completely avoidable, I've suitably chastised myself and awarded myself a demerit, one more and I'm out the fucking door.

The album is available now through the website www.motorsoundsrecords.com where you can pick up a free mp3 from the record, and available in the shops from March.

******************Next up, we've booked a few Irish gigs for THE BONNEVILLES & [D-66], its a real double wammy, both Punk Blues luminaries (I don't even know what that word means) are rightly delighted at getting to play a few dates together, The Bonnevilles are using the dates to launch their debut album "Good Suits and Fighting Boots" and it will be [D-66]s' first time playing in Ireland, so if you want to have a uniquely sleazy experience, you should try and get to one of these gigs.

I really really want to rob a fucking bank, its not that money's important to me, it's that its important to them.I've just always wanted to rob a bank and get away with it. Is it any wonder all those London gangsters were so fucking smug, living it up on the riviera spending the banks money, getting fat, sunburnt and pissed. If that was me, I'd walk around with a smile that made my face look like it was cut in half for the rest of my life, and I'd never lift a fucking finger again because nothing, nothing would be able to surpass the feeling of stealing money from a bank.

Say it out loud, you reading this!! Yes you, say it out loud, "STEALING MONEY FROM A BANK", feels good doesn't it. Think about it when your alone, it feels fucking great. Imagine doing it, convince yourself you've done it, you'll fuck like a beast afterwards.

My entire family, way back hundreds of years ago were all highway men, due to their land being stole from them because they wouldn't pay rent to the crown so they turned to robbing and killing, and by all accounts they where really fucking good at it, until they all got caught and hung (I'm not making this up, its all there in the National Libary in Dublin). I think that gene is still in me, not that I'm a robbing fucker, but stealing money from a bank or the crown, I personally have absolutly no problem with it, in fact I applaud it.

Anybody who knows me, knows what I think of banks, I'm a bank hating bore when I get drunk. They've manouvered themselves into a postion of power and completly abused it, they've fucking robbed the people they're supposed to offer a 'service' to to the point of insanity, they are without consious, remorse or the ability to mend their ways. They will continue to operate on the brink of illegality without crossing that line, untouchable. And lets face who's gonna touch them, they own everything, governments, people.... blah blah blah, I'm boring myself now.

I could do a Superman (the one with Richard Pryor) and steal a billion penny's, or go in guns blazing, like Billy the Kid (and for the record I have no problem with shooting a few tellers, they're part of the problem, how do you sleep at night), or I could do a David Niven and cat Burgularise the place then nip of to Monte Carlo in my E-type, ah to live the dream.

And just in case your wondering, I haven't 'recenty' been screwed by 'my' bank, I have and everybody I know has consistently been fucked over by every bank I've ever had the mis-fortune of joining, no matter how much money I had in it from pennys to thousands.

They make no distinction between taking £30 from a single parent, struggling to cope, for "Account Maintenance"", what the fuck is that, and taking the same money from a millionaire for the same thing, except they won't take it from the millionaire, but they will happily send the poor person waltzing into the arms of a loan-shark/psych-ward/alcoholisim/drugs*delete as appropriate.

So I do have an axe to grind, but its not a new baby, its an old hag and it ain't going away. Either way, if anybody out there has a good idea, get in touch......I may be interested

I thought I ought to explain my thoughts on this fine piece of 21st century wisdom. Here, in the UK, we have what are playfully referred to as the Health and Safety Nazis. There are people in our society whose job it is to make sure the rest of us have as little fun as possible, they wander around our country looking for things that idiots could hurt themselves with and proceed to ban it, cut it down, fence it of or otherwise place us out of harms way from it. ‘What’s wrong with that’ I hear you cry ‘we’ll I’ll tell ya’ I retort. If you pay a man to make laws, he’ll make laws, as is his brief, but if you don’t tell him when to stop, he’ll carry on making laws, even when there are no laws left to make, even when common sense dictates its time to stop, even when the padded masses are screaming from the not too high roof tops, ‘please stop, your draining our collective will to live’. This machine is getting paid and as long as he’s getting paid he’s going to carry on doing what he’s getting paid for. Follow? No? Ok, example,

A Doctor’s surgery in England plant a tree outside the front door, Health and Safety Nazis cut it down for fear that the patients might slip on the berries and hurt themselves.

Every 15ft is a set of traffic lights, its impossible to get your car/bike out of 2nd gear.

CHEESE

Cheese makers in Cheshire have been made change the way they’ve made their products for 400 years, just in case somebody might get poisoned, even though in 400 years no one has ever gotten poisoned from their cheese.

I know these things might not sound like they’re worth getting annoyed about, but they’re just the tip of the Health and Safety ‘berg, this is what you have to see. I personally couldn’t give flying monkey fuck about cheese or cheese related products, but if some bloke wants to buy something that’s been rolled in pig spunk, hung for a fortnight inside a pair of wellies and then been fucked by a rabid Italian, who am I to stop him. ‘But he might die’ the Health and Safety Nazis say, ‘so fucking what’ I say, ‘he took a punt and lost, he’s an idiot and we have to many of those as it is, did you see what he ate?’ I don’t want to live in a world where everything has a crumple zone. It would be very easy to go to far with this and go completely the other way, living in world where brushing your teeth can kill you, that’s not what I mean, I’m just saying use some common sense. People have always gotten hurt, its natures way of sorting the wheat from the chaff, how is evolution supposed to work, if we dander around the planet putting a metaphorical bumper on everything and ensuring everything operates to the lowest common denominator. Give it a million of so years of that and we’re going to end up with a planet full of complete mongs, where the leader of the free world is from amongst the thickest of us……….. Oh wait that’s happened already. How droll, sorry couldn’t resist. But I digress. I don’t want my point to lose its sting so I’ll get back to it.

SURVIVING, I'M GOOD AT THAT ALREADY

In the city your never more than 5ft away from an extreme sportsman, all over the western world, young men are throwing themselves of very high things, riding very fast down very high things, and generally ‘choosing’ to place themselves in harms way, Some might simply write them of as idiots, not me, I used to count my self as one of them, then I had kids and a survival gene kicked in. I know these people to be a generally high achieving bunch, sure there are some dudes, but mostly they are very bright, funny young men, who have choose attempted suicide as a hobby. Why? They’re bored, they’re men and men like a bit of danger, and they don’t get that any other way, if they had to run the gauntlet of wild animals that want to eat them every morning to get to work, I would hazard a guess that they wouldn’t be B.A.S.E. jumping at the week end. So this is the kind of individual your dealing with and when you constantly pad his life in minute detail to prevent him from harming himself, something he’s perfectly capable of doing himself, in fact, surviving is exactly what he’s fantastic at, you crush his spirit.

Read Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk or watch the film, get The Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn Igullden, the people that read these look at them like a priest looks at the bible, they are guides, symbols of lost spirit, these men are saying, ‘we understand we can get hurt, we get it and we don’t care, scatter my ashes somewhere nice and make sure everybody has a good drink at the funeral’. If the Health and Safety Nazis get their way, the biggest killer in the bright new millennium is going to be deep vein thrombosis.

MY SPERM COUNT AND HEALTH AND SAFETY

We all know, that men are getting less fertile, sperm counts are wallowing in single figures for most of us, are wee fellas can barely muster the effort to pass our genetic code into the future, pretty important stuff and our testicles cant be bothered. Is this because of the crap they put in our food, I suspect it is, but add to that the powerful anti-effect of a man giving up. I’ll tell you brothers and sisters, when a man says ‘ah, Fuck it, I can’t be bothered anymore’ and means it, nothing and I mean nothing will get him up, he will cut his nose off to spite his face. And that’s what’s happening and its effects are only starting to kick in, men’s’ testicles are saying’ ah fuck it, what’s the point”. It’s that serious, the future of the human race is at risk here and I want to be noted, I’m the first to make the link between failing sperm counts and Health and Safety.

So how does, Health and Safety Kill Culture? All the best stuff, Rock n Roll, Van Gogh, the Blues, my guitar, my record label, where all born from hardship, trouble and strife, if the Health and safety guy had his way, none of these things would exist for fear of harming somebody, yes even a painting, it could fall and hurt someone, my guitar could poke someone in the eye (in fact has and will do again, it has a thirst for human blood, mostly mine, where do you think Blood on the Scratchplate came from?), the Blues, don’t get me started.

“Evil is what happens when good men do nothing”, a wiser man than me once said, well
We’re in a war my friends, its us against the Health and Safety Nazis, these jack booted bullies whose sole purpose in life is to tell us what we cannot do. We can let them do their worst and let the human race become a side note in history along with dinosaurs and Transformers Robots in disguise, or we can stand up and tell them in one manly voice,’ STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO” and then with equal pride, add, ”YOU CUNT” Oh and it’s the ‘human RACE’ not the ’human walk ‘not run’ in single file’. I thank you.
